Is any ceramic with the name Wedgwood part of the Wedgwood company
founded by Josiah Wedgwood?
No. It should be noted that Wedgwood®™ is a registered
name and trade mark. It is often mistaken as a generic name by the uninitiated,
including many antique dealers. In fact, even some manufacturers have tried
to trade on the Wedgwood name, the company created by Josiah Wedgwood in
1759. Companies such as Wedgwood & Co, J. Wedgwood, Wedgewood
and others have produced ceramics, often leading to confusion and misrepresentation.
They are not and have never been connected with Josiah Wedgwood’s
company. There is only one true Wedgwood.
